はじめに

RaspberryPiで電子部品を扱う際、最初にディスプレイの使い方をマスターすることを強く推奨します。結果を「すぐに」,「誰からでも見える」状態にしておくことはプロジェクトの成功の近道です

LCD Displayのしくみ

  • LCDとは
    Liquid Crystal Display(液晶ディスプレイ)の略。
    原理の異なるDisplayにOLEDディスプレイがある。
  • 発光原理
    液晶という液体と結晶の両方の性質を持つ特殊な物質の特性を利用。
    液晶は規則正しく分子が並んでおり(結晶の性質)、光を進行方向を特定の方向に制御することができる。
    液晶分子は電圧をかけることで並び方が変わる(液体の性質)。その為、電圧で光の通り方を変えることができる。
    たくさんの小さな点(ピクセル)で構成ており、各ピクセルは液晶の層とカラーフィルター(赤、緑、青)で構成されている。
  • 特徴
    バックライトを常時点灯させる必要があるため、OLEDに比べてエネルギー効率が低い。
    バックライトの明るさを調整するため、可変抵抗が必要
    液晶自体は劣化しにくく、焼き付きの問題もないが、バックライトの寿命がディスプレイの寿命となる。

配線

代表的なLCD(16文字×2行)の配線を示します。図は直接接続していますが、ブレッドボードとジャンパー線を使用して接続しても構いません。

LCD Displayに文字を表示する準備とプログラム

LCD Displayにテキストを表示するためには、実は非常に複雑なプログラムが必要です。
まず、ディスプレイ自体を操作するプログラムをpicoに格納する必要があります。
すべて1つのライブラリにまとまっているものもありますが、今回はそれぞれのコードを格納します。
すべて解読しなくても使うことはできますが、解読すると勉強になります。

Thonnyにcopy&paste → 名前を付けて保存※ → Raspberry Pi Picoに保存
ファイル名(**.py)で呼び出すため、ファイル名は間違いなく記述すること
